ITINs Set to Expire in 2020

All Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) that have not been used on a federal income tax return at least once in the past three years and ITINs that were issued prior to 2013 are set to expire on December 31, 2020. Additionally, ITINs with middle digits 88 are set to expire, as well as ITINs with middle digits 90, 91, 92, 94, 96, 97, 98 or 99 that were assigned before 2013 and have not yet been renewed.

The IRS encourages taxpayers who have an ITIN that is set to expire on December 31, 2020 to submit Form W-7 with the required documentation early to avoid refund delays in 2020. For additional information on the ITIN renewal process for individuals and their families, click here.
